1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
- Authentication Data: Email address, name, profile photo (via Firebase Authentication,
Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In)
- User Profile: Display name, bio, profile settings, notification preferences
1.2 Vessel (Boat) Data
- Boat specifications (name, type, length, year, manufacturer, engine details)
- Registration information and flag
- Tank levels (fuel, fresh water, waste water)
- Battery status and engine hours
- Photos and documents you upload
- Inventory items and their locations
- Maintenance records and service history
1.3 Location Data
⚠️ Important: Location data is collected ONLY when you actively use these features:
- Anchor Watch: Continuous GPS monitoring to alert you if your boat drifts (foreground &
background)
- Voyage Tracking: Route recording during your trips
- Map Features: Current location for weather and marina information
You can disable location access anytime in your device settings. Location data is used only for the features
you activate.
1.4 Community & Social Data
- Posts, comments, and reactions you create
- Private messages with other users
- Group memberships and event participation
- Profile visibility and blocking preferences
- Follow relationships with other users
1.5 AI Assistant Interactions
- Questions and prompts you send to the AI assistant
- Context data (boat information) used to provide personalized responses
- Conversation history within a session (cleared when you exit)
1.6 Media & Files
- Photos uploaded for boat profiles and community posts
- Documents (PDFs, certificates, manuals)
- Voice recordings for AI queries (if used)
1.7 Usage & Technical Data
- App interaction data and feature usage statistics
- Device information (model, OS version)
- Crash reports and error logs (via Firebase Crashlytics)
- Performance metrics
2. How We Use Your Data
- Core Features: Boat management, maintenance tracking, voyage logging, anchor monitoring
- AI Services: Provide personalized boat insights and answer your questions using AI
- Community: Enable social features, messaging, groups, and events
- Weather & Maps: Display weather forecasts and nautical charts for your location
- Notifications: Send alerts for maintenance, anchor alarms, community updates
- Payments: Process premium subscription purchases
- Improvements: Analyze usage to improve app features and fix bugs
- Academy: Provide educational content and track course progress

4. Data Storage & Security
- Storage: Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers (primarily in EU/US regions)
- Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest
- AI Processing: AI queries are processed in real-time and not permanently stored by AI
providers
- Access Control: Only authorized personnel can access backend systems
- No Sale of Data: We do NOT sell your personal data to any third party
- Local Cache: Some data is cached locally on your device for offline access
5. Your Rights
- Access: View all your data within the app (Profile, Settings, Boat details)
- Correction: Edit your profile, boat information, and posts at any time
- Deletion: Permanently delete your account and all associated data via
Settings → Account → Delete Account
- Data Portability: Request a copy of your data by contacting us
- Withdraw Consent: Disable location access, notifications, or delete your account
- Object: Contact us if you have concerns about data processing
When you delete your account, ALL your data is permanently removed from our servers, including: profile,
boats, posts, messages, documents, and all associated files.
6. Children's Privacy
MarinAssistant is designed for adult boat owners and enthusiasts. Our service is not intended for
children under 13 years of age (or the applicable age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with
personal data, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
7. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the
United States and European Union, where our service providers operate. We ensure appropriate safeguards are
in place for such transfers.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
- We may notify you via in-app notification or email
- Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance
